LOOK: adidas Unveils FIFA Women’s World Cup Official Ball

adidas’ official match ball features designs that highlight the natural landscapes of the host countries, New Zealand and Australia.

All eyes are on the FIFA Women’s World Cup as we count down to its kickoff this coming July.

Football fans are eagerly waiting to see their favorite players representing their country in the biggest football competition. And as they wait, adidas has given a peak into tournament to scratch the itch with their official match ball.

The adidas revealed the 2023 Women’s World Cup official match ball, the ‘OCEANUZ.’

Aboriginal artist Chern’ee Sutton and Māori artist Fiona Collis collaborated on the design of the ball.

The two artists took inspiration from the natural landscapes of the World Cup’s host countries in their design.

In particular, the colors and patterns on the OCEANUZ is an homage to the mountains of New Zealand and Australia’s connection to the Indian Ocean.

“adidas has created an iconic Official Match Ball for the FIFA Women’s World Cup that reflects diversity, inclusivity and togetherness, fitting themes for the first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by two different countries from different confederation,” FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said.

adidas officially revealed the ball for the first time in Syndney, Australia. A helicopter flew in a giant version of the OCEANUZ at Marks Park with a beautiful view of Boni Beach.

And the OCEANUZ is just as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside.

The ball features the same technology as that of the 2022 Men’s World Cup. With this, it provides precise ball data, it supports accuracy and consistency in play, and it enhances aerodynamics.

This marks adidas’ ninth consecutive official match for the Women’s World Cup, and it is definitely a mark of one of the most unique tournaments in World Cup history.
