TheOhioBrothers’ SHARK shares his thoughts with The GAME as he marks his third straight World Championship appearance with M5.
TheOhioBrothers’ Roamer, Vo “SHARK” Trung marks his third straight World Championship appearance with M5. It’s a testament to his consistency as a professional Mobile Legends player as he’s reached each M series with a different team.
“I just downloaded ML one random day, started playing it, and just kept playing,” says the American-Vietnamese player — a very simple and humble start but one that opened many doors. “I met new people, tried out for a professional team, played really good and kept going.”
He plays more than just good, considering his dominance in North America (NA). Since his debut in 2021 with BloodThirstyKings, SHARK’s local tournament record has been filled with first and second-place finishes. After three years and three M series appearances, however, his view of the game has changed. “It doesn’t feel the same compared to M3… it’s more like a job now.”
Struggles of a developing region
It’s a job he takes seriously but unfortunately, international success still eludes him after all this time. M3 was the best showing of NA on the world championship stage, with BloodThirstyKings finishing in third place after losing to eventual M3 champions Blacklist International.
Since then, NA hasn’t been able to replicate that same level of international performance. SHARK is hoping to change that this M5 with TheOhioBrothers but the struggle continues to be real.
Despite having a major presence in many different esports, NA is still a developing region in Mobile Legends. SHARK laments this fact and how it makes it difficult for them to get good practice. “The NA server is not too useful for training,” he says matter-of-factly. “That’s why we have to come to Asia to train. NA needs more good players playing in it.”
Despite this, SHARK and the team continue to persevere. They’ve proven before that they have what it takes to challenge the best players in the world, and given a bit more time and support they can surely do it again.
