Fortunately, the PLDT High Speed Hitters are now safe and sound after getting stranded due to heavy flooding.
Not even the PLDT High Speed Hitters were spared from the onslaught of the southwest monsoon, or habagat currently affecting the Philippines.
In a series of Instagram posts on Monday, July 21, PLDT stars Majoy Baron, Kim Fajardo, and Mika Reyes gave fans a glimpse of their situation after a training session at the SGS Foundation Building in Quezon City.
Since Monday afternoon, the team had been stranded in the building due to heavy floods along Gregorio Araneta Avenue — a major road prone to flooding during heavy rainfall.
It wasn’t until around 9 p.m. when the players were rescued by the Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Raha Rescue team via boat from the SGS Foundation Building.
“Maraming salamat po to our Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Army and our volley friends who assisted in rescuing our High Speed Hitters out of the Araneta Avenue area,” the team wrote on social media.
“Alam po namin na mahaba pa ang gabi niyo at marami pa kayong matutulungan. We can only hope and pray na ligtas din po kayong makakauwi sa inyong mga tahanan. Muli, maraming, maraming salamat!”

Players made the most out of their time while waiting for the rescue, setting up an impromptu karaoke session, along with merienda and casual conversations. In a lighthearted moment, some players, led by Baron, even managed to snap a selfie while killing time at their practice venue.
Fortunately, the High Speed Hitters are now safe amid the continued habagat season, with players providing updates through their social media accounts late on Monday.

“Sana lahat ng nangangailangan, naabutan ng tulong. Forever grateful to those who checked in, brought food, and most of all, to Philippine Army S&R and Raha Rescue. Maraming salamat po sa puso at serbisyo niyo,” Reyes wrote in an Instagram reel posted on Tuesday, July 23.
Up next for PLDT will be the PVL On Tour this weekend in Cebu City, where they hope to close out the preliminaries on a strong note against the Nxled Chameleons this July 26, and the Galeries Tower Highrisers on July 27.
