The Russian powerhouse blew away the competition with a near perfect tournament run.
The CIS region continues to be the undisputed best Dota 2 region in the world as Team Spirit rises as the EWC 2025 Dota 2 Champions. This comes after a truly historic run where the team dropped only one game in the entire tournament.
Coming into the Esports World Cup, Team Spirit were going through a rough patch as they’ve had mediocre finishes since winning DreamLeague Season 25 in March. In the same vein, Team Falcons were also in a bad slump. The once most dominant team in Dota 2 had not won a major since the start of 2025. Both teams were seen as underdogs in the EWC but little did they know how far they would go.
Team Spirit seemed to have found their groove again after finishing at the top of their group, losing only one game to China’s Xtreme Gaming. Team Falcons had a rougher start with a third place finish in their own group.
This would serve as a wake-up call for Team Falcons as they would dominate Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere with 2-0 sweeps to make it out of the Elimination Phase. They would continue their 2-0 ways as they would knock Team Liquid and Tundra Esports out of the playoffs.
However, this would lead them to facing Team Spirit who were also sweeping away the competition. Gaimin Gladiators and PARIVISION would get caught up on the wrong end of the 2-0 storm, falling to a seemingly unstoppable Team Spirit.
Two previously underperforming teams would clash at the grand finals. Team Spirit and Team Falcon were flying high on their momentum but only one could become the EWC 2025 Dota 2 champions.
Based on how their tournament runs were going, this would end in a sweep or a five-game barnburner. Turns out it was more fitting for everything to end in another sweep as Team Secret closed out the grand finals 3-0.
