For the third straight year, League of Legends esports history has been made once again.
They are unstoppable, undeniable, and certainly unkillable — T1 has claimed the title of Worlds 2025 champions, further growing their dynasty. They defeated longtime rivals KT Rolster last Sunday at the Dong’an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium in Chengdu, China, to claim their sixth world championship and achieve the three-peat that was denied to them in 2017.
Considering the weight of their achievements, it’s almost hard to believe that T1 were considered underdogs entering Worlds 2025. As South Korea’s fourth seed, they had to play a play-ins match against China’s Invictus Gaming to see who would get the last spot into Worlds.
That by itself was a grand-finals-worthy matchup, but there could only be one, and it was going to be T1.
From there, T1 took the longest possible road to become the Worlds 2025 champions. They finished the Swiss stage with a match record of 3-2, hitting the minimum requirements to make it to the playoffs. Then they had a nail-biter series against China’s Anyone’s Legend before dealing the deathblow to China’s world championship hopes by sweeping Top Esports to make it to the grand finals.
Meanwhile, KT surprised everyone by looking like the best South Korean team despite coming in as the third seed. If their 3-0 match record during the Swiss stage didn’t convince people, then their swift dispatching of Taiwan’s CTBC Flying Oyster and MSI 2025 champions Gen.G Esports surely did. The rollercoaster was only going up, and KT looked like the favorites to become the Worlds 2025 champions.

But at this point, T1’s Worlds form cannot be denied. Despite taking the longest road and the most risk, the defending world champions have proven that they’re unbreakable under the immense pressure of the world championship stage. KT fought valiantly, but there’s a reason why the Telecom War is tilted in T1’s favor.
At a final match score of 3-2, T1 makes history once again — breaking their own records to become the Worlds 2025 champions.
