Losing 0-4 in the grand finals is a nasty way to end the season, but the job’s not done yet.

It was a somber end to Aurora’s Light and crew’s MPL PH S16 run as their 15-match win streak finally snapped at the grand finals against Team Liquid. With that, the Northern Lights bookend their season with their two losses — their only losses in an otherwise fantastic run.

Dylan “Light” Katipon was quiet, but it was clear that he was really feeling the weight of their loss. He joined Aurora as the replacement Roamer for Renejay Barcase but ended the season as the Regular Season MVP. He’s been integral to Aurora’s success in MPL PH S16, so it’s understandable that the 0-4 grand finals loss would hit him hard.

“Reflections ko is marami pa akong pwede magawa sa game day,” said Aurora’s Light. “Yung preparations ko, yung hero pool, yung ganun.

When asked for his initial thoughts on what could have led to such a lopsided match, Light was straightforward and said he didn’t know. Obviously, losing in such an extreme manner makes it difficult to assess the situation, especially when you’re coming off the high that Aura’s had for the entire season.

Malalaman ko lang yun pag na-study ko ulit yung nangyari,” said Aurora’s Light. “Hindi ko talaga ma-pinpoint pero one thing’s for sure, mas-maganda talaga yung execution ng Team Liquid today.”

Regardless of the results, Aurora is still one of our representatives for the M7 World Championship in Indonesia. That’s taking place early next year, so at least the team has ample time to rest and prepare. Light, however, is restless, and there’s no doubt he’ll be laser-focused in proving himself on the world championship stage.

“Actually, ayaw ko ng vacation,” said Aurora’s Light. “Kasi right now, lalo na natalo kami, ayaw ko mawala sa isip ko yung kailangan pa i-improve ng team. So magpapahinga ako pero malayo pa yung kailangan ko abutin bago in good shape ako for M7.”
