Playoffs security is now paramount for the Phoenixes.
The next few weeks are going to be critical for TNC’s coach E2MAX as there’s only a few games left before the MPL PH S16 playoffs. Currently, TNC is right above the cutoff at sixth place with AP.Bren nipping at their heels.
Coach Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic can breathe a little easier thanks to their recent win against Team Falcons. Yet the team can’t rest just yet as their position in the standings is by no means safe.
“Yung mindset sa team is kung gusto namin makapasok ng playoffs, kailangan talaga sa remaining games namin makakuha kami ng puntos,” said TNC’s coach E2MAX. “Kasi ang dikit-dikit nga ng standings. Kaya yung panalo namin kay Falcons ay sobrang laking bagay kasi isa sila sa baba na humahabol din.”
On the whole, this hasn’t been an inspiring season for TNC compared to season 15. Granted, breaking their last place curse was not a very high bar to cross but right now it seems like the team has plateaued – slightly regressed, even. But while the season’s still going, TNC has better things to do than compare previous results.
“Hindi namin talaga iniisip yung bagay na ganun, yung nakaka-stress at nakaka-affect ng mental,” said TNC’s coach E2MAX. “And ang mina-mindset ko sa kanila is hangang hindi pa tapos, hindi tayo titigil. Yun yung pinag iisipan namin – yung progress, yung process, ano kailangan i-improve.”
Still, TNC has constantly been searching for consistency this entire season. In many cases it seems they lack a clear direction in-game and it has cost them many a series. As frustrating as that may be, the team does have potential and it’s up to them to unlock it if they want to reach, or even get far, in the playoffs.
“May mga times na nagtatalo kami pero at the end of the day, yung pagtatalo na yon ay dahil gusto namin manalo ng pare-pareho. May mga times na heated pero nababa-balance naman kasi isa lang yung goal namin. Kailangan lang namin hanapin yung tamang mindset at mental papasok sa mga games na magaganda.”
