No team is untouchable, and that’s a good sign for the league.

MPL PH S16 is looking to be a tough one as no team has emerged unscathed by the end of week two — a fact that ONIC PH’s coach YnoT finds exciting.

Season 16 has had a lot of twists and turns, with the biggest twist being Twisted Minds sitting at the top at the end of week two. Coach Anthony “YnoT” Senedrin sees this as a good thing, as it benefits both fans and teams in the league.

Nagiging mas-competitive siya, mas-exciting yung liga,” said ONIC PH’s coach YnoT. “Sa standings lang, lahat ng mga veteran teams hindi mo alam sino pinaka-angat. Tapos yung Twisted Minds out of nowhere, galing MDL, now top ng standings.

“I think sa perspective ng mga fans, mas na lo-look forward nila yung following weeks kasi inaabang nila yung mga favorite teams nila, kung makakabawi ba sila.

On the teams’ side, coach YnoT believes this shows that every team is working hard to do better. For ONIC PH specifically, he already sees a number of things they could improve on after suffering their first loss against Aurora Gaming in week two. But having a rookie team do so well immediately in the MPL is encouraging for coach YnoT.

“I think this is a good sign for the league because having a rookie team at the top sets a good example sa mga aspiring players and teams na i-push yung pagiging pro.”

Always Working on Consistency

Reflecting more on how the perceived top teams aren’t as dominant now, coach YnoT says it’s due to a number of factors. Every team runs a bit differently, but there’s only one thing that’ll determine a team’s success,

“Really, it’s a matter of consistency and pagaaral sa mga kalaban,” said ONIC PH’s coach YnoT. He gives props to Aurora’s coaching staff for putting in the work to instill that into their team. “It’s something that we need to pick up – not just the players but kaming lahat as a whole. We need to show ganun ding effort.”

So how would ONIC go about achieving consistency? For coach YnoT, it’s a relatively simple road. “By staying on top and doing our best every single day.”

“I think pagdating sa training, sa pagpapalakas, no time is ever enough,” continued ONIC PH’s coach YnoT. “Kumbaga, we need to push ourselves to the brink of exhaustion. But we still need to be smart about it. I think it’s still too early in the season to conclude kung sino yung mga top teams. So we’ll see.”
