5 Songs Post Malone Should Perform at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Closing Ceremony
American singer and rapper Post Malone will be the headliner for this year’s FIFA World Cup 2026 closing ceremony.
Fans around the world will be in for a treat in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final featuring Spain and Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) this July 20.
Apart from a historic halftime show featuring BTS, Madonna, Shakira, and Justin Bieber, this year’s World Cup will feature the traditional closing ceremony headlined by American singer and rapper Post Malone.
“At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament’s journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world’s attention turns to the two finalists,” FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on the official website.
Set to take place before kickoff, here are five songs we’d love to hear when Posty takes the stage in New York before the final.
Sunflower
A standout from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, Sunflower is the collaborative track between Post Malone and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee that’s since gone double platinum.
Sunflower would be a safe bet as it’s universally recognizable for both casual and longtime fans at the MetLife. Who knows, we might even get a duet with Swae Lee during the performance.
Congratulations
Although it is technically a pre-game ceremony, Congratulations should be a must on Post Malone’s setlist. After all, it’s a track that’s become associated with winning moments. With heavy-hitting production from Metro Boomin and the overall theme, it’s sure to get the stadium (and possibly the players) going.
Take What You Want
Concerts like these are primarily reserved for radio-friendly hits, as not all audiences at the MetLife on Monday will be Post Malone fans. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to add a few niche cuts, right?
Though not as mainstream as our first three songs, Take What You Want certainly brings the energy, being a hip-hop-slash-heavy metal song Posty made with the late Ozzy Osbourne — a standout track that fits in nicely with a huge stadium like MetLife.
It also opens the door for Posty to celebrate Osbourne’s legacy. The rock icon, who passed away in July 22 last year, is a noted football fan, being a die-hard supporter of his hometown Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Circles
Another smash hit, Circles balances out our set list that centers on fan-friendly, but high energy tracks. A soft pop-rock cut from Hollywood’s Bleeding, Circles is sure to encourage sing-alongs from fans at the MetLife, given its standout hook, and overall popularity across mainstream audiences.
White Iverson
Last but not least is the track that catapulted Post Malone to stardom, White Iverson. Though he’s no stranger to big performances, it’s hard to deny the gravity of a FIFA World Cup gig. It’s a testament to an artist’s relevance, while being an opportunity to expand their reach to more audiences.
Apart from being a celebration of Post Malone’s growth, it’s also a song that captures him as an artist — one who has made his name by sliding seamlessly between genres, whether it’s melodic hip-hop and R&B, country, and even heavy metal.
