The Blue Eagles’ winning ways are accompanied by the freshest pairs out today.
Early into UAAP Season 88, the Ateneo Blue Eagles are looking like the real deal. Now featuring a retooled core led by their one-and-done players, the Eagles remain unbeaten early into the new season, and return to the Final Four already looks certain at this point.
As the Eagles try to continue their winning ways, let’s take a look at some of the sneakers that power their strong performances on the court.
Dom Escobar

In his first-ever Ateneo-DLSU rivalry game, Dom Escobar opted for a pair of Kobe 5 X-Rays — an all-blue pair that takes inspiration from the iconic ‘Broken, Not Beaten’ shirt that was first released in 2010.
Given that Dom was one of the heroes in Ateneo’s 81-74 win over DLSU, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he carried that “Mamba Mentality” throughout the game.
Jared Bahay

For sophomore guard Jared Bahay, it’s performance over aesthetics as he wore the Jordan Luka 4 in an all-white colorway. At this point, colorways won’t really matter, given that the Luka 4 is considered a return to form in Luka Doncic’s signature line.
Andrew Bongo

In another Nike Kobe sighting, here is Ateneo guard Andrew Bongo in the Kobe 9 Low Protro “Moonwalker”, which pays tribute to Michael Jackson’s iconic dance move. Coming in a purple and black base, a key detail in this pair is the moon rock texture in the outsole that is a direct reference to MJ’s “Moonwalk” dance.
Waki Espina

Amid a breakout year with the Eagles, a part of Waki Espina’s rotation are these Nike KD4s in the Easter colorway — a mint-green pair that holds up well even as a retro model.
Divine Adili

Last but not least is Ateneo foreign student Divine Adili, who is wearing a pair of Puma All-Pro Nitro Skybreak sneakers in a black and white colorway. Like Bahay before him, Adili seems to favor performance over aesthetics, opting for a straightforward colorway rather than a festive one.
