Can Adamson Return to the UAAP Volleyball Final Four in Season 88?

By RJ Ballecer - February 13, 2026

The young Adamson Lady Falcons are setting their sights on a Final Four berth in UAAP Season 88.

In UAAP Season 87, the Adamson Lady Falcons showed promise, finishing in fifth with a respectable 6-8 record under the leadership of super rookie Shaina Nitura.

For Season 88, they hope to build on that promise to snap a two-year Final Four drought in San Marcelino.

“Ang number one goal talaga is makapasok ng Final Four, so we’ve always worked hard for it. We prepared talaga for this moment na mabigay namin ‘yung best namin every time, especially ‘yung mga bata during the game,” head coach JP Yude said during the UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Volleyball press conference on Wednesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“So syempre, one game at a time, and we hope na lahat ng pinaghirapan natin is magresult ngayong season na ito.”

Adamson is coming off a productive offseason run, ruling the V-League Collegiate Challenge in October last year, before settling for fourth a month later in the Shakeys Super League. Former juniors stalwarts Abigail Segui and Lhouriz Tudao have also been elevated into the seniors’ team.

Captain Shaina Nitura, meanwhile, was also called up to the national team, playing in international tournaments such as the AVC Champions’ League, SEA V.League, and the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

“It’s a big blessing for us na we got to experience [a good offseason], especially sa mga rookies din namin. It’s a very great opportunity tas mabu-boost din ‘yung confidence ng mga bata, so that pagdating ng UAAP games namin, ‘yung mga experience na ‘yun, ma-apply din namin during the game,” Yude said.

Yude also hopes that Nitura makes a huge leap for Season 88, especially after spending time with the national team.

Siguro for me, ‘yung maturity, especially during games. The experience naman nandoon… so for me, I pray and I hope for the best na mas lalo pa siya maging eager at mas lalo pa tumaas ‘yung laro niya this year,” said the third-year coach, with Nitura resetting numerous UAAP scoring records as a rookie.

Adamson begins their Season 88 campaign this Sunday, February 15, against the Ateneo Blue Eagles at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. More than the experience they gained in the offseason, Yude says that chemistry will just be as important in the Lady Falcons’ playoff push.

Pag hindi magkaintindihan ‘yung mga player at magaway away, hindi na buo ‘yung team. Number one thing talaga para makapunta doon sa taas is ‘yung paano sila mag-jell, paano sila magtulungan during the game,” Yude said.

Kasi it’s easy to work e, it’s easy to win kapag lahat gusto mag-contribute, at lahat gusto manalo.”
