Mr. Consistent truly lives up to his name, as he’s back for another world championship attempt.
Another year means another M-series appearance for Aurora’s Edward Dapadap, as he and his team have qualified for M7, along with MPL PH S16 champions Team Liquid.
For Edward, specifically, this will be his fifth consecutive M-series appearance. This makes him the Filipino player with the most M-series appearances and currently ties him with RRQ akira’s Luiz de Silva Alves and Team Spirit’s Kemiran “Sunset Lover” Kocharov and Stanislav “SAWO” Reshnyak for most overall appearances.
“Nag-process lang siya after ng game,” said Aurora’s Edward after upper bracket finals victory which qualified them for M7. “In-game, even kahapon hindi ko siya iniisip. Focused talaga ako sa anong nangyayari and one step at a time yung mindset namin.”

It seems like Edward’s season 16 was really focused on streaks, as Aurora were also on a 15-match win streak at that point. That also broke the record for the longest win streak record in MPL PH history. That can really pile on the pressure, but it seems Aurora were already aware of that.
“Bago mag-playoffs, nag total reset kami para mawala yung pressure,” said Aurora’s Edward. “Kasi kung iisipin namin na naka-win streak kami buong season, kahit hindi mo ipakita, sa loob mo may pressure na yon. One step at a time talaga kami.”
A good mantra, but unfortunately, all streaks have to come to an end, and it did for Aurora when they lost to Team Liquid at the season 16 grand finals. Still, Edward continues to live up to his Mr. Consistent moniker, and when asked what it is about him that practically guarantees a M-series trip, he could only laugh.
“Siguro nagkakataon lang,” said Aurora’s Edward. “Pero ang goal ko talaga is back-to-back M-series and back-to-back MSC, and yung MSC wala pa ako. Double effort ako every season para makuha ko yung goal ko one day.”
