Coach Giee on the Challenge That AP.Bren Needs to Overcome

Their final opponents are tough, but their real opponents are closer to home.

Time is running out for AP.Bren and Coach Karl “Giee” Barrientos as they hold on to their last, slim chance to enter the MPL PH Season 17 playoffs. They’ll be facing the soaring Team Falcons and struggling Aurora Gaming for their last matches in the regular season.

After going winless in week seven, AP.Bren have to win their last two matches to secure the sixth and final playoff spot. If their only win is against Aurora, there’s still a chance for them to make it. But that means their fate is out of their hands as they’ll need teams above them to lose more games.

“Comms pa rin ‘yung problema,” said AP.Bren’s Coach Giee in an interview with the media. “Kita naman na wala silang problema sa early game. Na bibitawan lang talaga at nahihirapan sila ibalik ‘yung lamang. Kailangan nila maging precise sa shotcalling nila. Parang walang plan B sila. Kunyari, may gusto sila gawin pero hindi nila iniisip ‘yung pwede gawin ng kalaban.”

Having weak communication this far into the season is certainly a glaring flaw, but Coach Giee sees another problem plaguing the team.

“Ang kalaban lang nila ay sarili. ‘Yun lang talaga. Kailangan nila higitan yung sarili nila. ‘Yung focus, nandyan na ‘yan. Lagi naman kami nagpra-practice, naguusap, nagfi-fix ng mga problema. Nandun lahat pero pag sarili ‘yung kalaban, mahirap talaga. Kailangan ma-overcome mo ‘yun.”

Hopefully the Bees have found some sort of solution as they head to Season 17’s final week.
