The Barangay wants their moments of brilliance to be more than just fleeting.

Omega Esports ended their first half of MPL PH Season 17 on a high note as they took down reigning world champions Aurora Gaming in an upset victory. The struggling Barangay added a second win to their record, giving them some breathing room in the standings.

The battle between Omega and Aurora was really all about attrition as all three games went past 15 minutes. It can be said that both teams are currently struggling to find their footing this season, but Omega proved to be the more resilient and tenacious team in this match.

“Nothing to lose na kami ngayong araw,” said Omega Esports’ Coach Wuraaaah in an interview with the media. “Randam din namin na kahit may gold lead sila, nahihirapan sila tapusin yung game. So sabi namin ‘kung dikit yung game, sureball na kaya namin panalo yung game.’ Doon kami nag-focus and ayung nga, the rest is history.”

Coach Wuraaaah added that while they’re ultimately happy with the result, this is far from the form they want. All three games were balanced on a knife’s edge and it’s safe to say that Omega wouldn’t be the victors if it wasn’t for the heroics shown by EXP Laner James “Jeymz” Gloria and Jungler Dean “Raizen” Sumagui. If Omega wants to really climb up the standings, they need to make sure this is the norm for them rather than the exception.

“Spiking kami – minsan mataas, minsan mababa,” continued Omega Esports’ Coach Wuraaaah. “Today spiking talaga kami kaya nakuha namin ‘yung win pero our ultimate goal is to be palaging ganito. ‘Yun ‘yung gagalingan namin sa second half ng season.”
