It’s one surprise after another in the M7 world championship and no one can predict what’ll happen next.
M7 continues to shock its viewers as the upsets have not stopped even as we’re three rounds deep into the Swiss Stage.
The primary cause for commotion is that we’ve determined the first two teams to make it to the playoffs. It’s an Indonesian and Malaysian team walking out of the Swiss Stage with a 3-0 record, leaving the Philippines to still fight for their playoff spot.
For Indonesia, it’s their second seed, Alter Ego, who’re picking up the slack left behind by ONIC. A good thing too as ONIC has suffered another upset as the CIS’s Team Spirit dealt them a crushing blow, knocking the Indonesian champions down to a dangerous 1-2 record. At this point forward, ONIC has to win every single match if they want to keep their M7 run alive.

It’s a scary position for the Indonesian representatives but at least they already have one team moving on. The Philippines are still searching even though they just played possibly one of the best matches so far in the world championship.
Two titans, the Philippines’ Team Liquid and Malaysia’s Selangor Red Giants, clashed for the second spot in the playoffs. SRG have been hungry for revenge ever since Team Liquid’s decisive victory against them in MSC 2025.
What followed was what could easily be described as a grand finals caliber match. Both teams fought like their M7 lives were on the line and put their all in this best-of-three series. From expert map movement, nailbiting team fights, leading to the first Savage of the tournament, SRG versus Team Liquid was a match that delivered on all fronts.
Unfortunately for the Philippines, it was SRG who came out as the victors, giving Malaysia a hard-fought playoff spot.
Eager for Round Two
“We expected this because we knew that [SRG] were eager to get a win against us,” said Team Liquid’s analyst Harold “Tictac” Reyes in an interview with the media.

He explained that the team did prepare for a tough fight but it seems that the Giants got the better of them this time. But despite the disappointing results the tournament continues and Team Liquid will definitely be more prepared for what waits ahead.
“Obviously we’re sad that we lost but now we know that there’s a lot that we can improve,” continued Tictac. “We learned a lot today so good luck to our next opponents.”
