Even after all the craziness of Season 2, these five have proven themselves a tier above everyone else.
It’s been almost a full year since the Tekken 8 Season 2 patch, and despite the rollercoaster of power levels, there’s always someone sitting at the top. In this case, we’ve picked out five characters who’ve risen as the kings and queens of the Tekken 8 madhouse.
Of course, everyone can point to a particular Season 2 character and argue that they deserve the top spot. However, with the 2025 Tekken World Tour concluded and Season 3 on its way, we have more than enough tournament and players data to give us an idea of which characters reign supreme in Tekken 8.
If you’ve been paying any attention to the professionals, you shouldn’t be surprised to see Anna on this list. She’s been traditionally known for her tricky mix-ups, but she was literally given a rocket launcher in Tekken 8. As a Season 2 DLC character, one could even say she exemplifies all the problems with the base game.
With superior reach and damage, along with the usual mind games to open up opponents, Anna rocketed up the tier lists to the point where everyone had her as a counter pick for emergencies. She’s been toned down since then, but there’s no doubt that she’s Season 2’s premier character.
And Then Everybody Else
Next to her is Asuka, who’s always been a strong character but Season 2 really kicked it up a notch. Asuka has solid defense thanks to her parries, but what happens when a defensive character suddenly gets powerful offense? Here new Naniwa Gusto buff puts her damage through the roof and it goes even further as it’s permanent as long as she’s in Heat Mode. Her traditional weaknesses still apply, but she can easily steal rounds and even games if you make one mistake.
After her is Bryan, a staple among pros since early Tekken games. Bryan has always been about strong fundamentals and anyone who’s stuck with him is greatly rewarded in Tekken 8. With good pressure, good defense, and godlike punishes thanks to his enhanced Taunt moves, Bryan will always remain top tier.
The other Williams sister, Nina, comes up at fourth. Despite the Season 2 craziness, a lot of her luster has worn off, especially with Anna bursting into the scene. Still, she remains the queen of up close and relentless pressure. Her handguns during Heat Mode continue to be a problem and can easily finish off characters with her damage. You just have to be more careful now as she definitely can’t take as much as she gives.
Last but certainly not least is the practically immortal patriarch of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Heihachi. You don’t need to look very hard to see why this guy is a strong character. His signature damage and pressure is there which is further enhanced by Warrior Instinct, a significant buff that he can activate only once per game. Once the Heihachi snowball starts rolling, it’s very difficult to stop. However, he’s still a Mishima, meaning execution is key to maximizing his potential.
