The Esports Foundation is aiming to redefine the world of sports partnerships.

The 2026 Esports World Cup is set to launch this July and with it is a refined Club Partner Program that now looks at the esports scene as a whole.

Debuting together with the EWC three years ago, the Club Partner Program is an investment initiative for global esports clubs. It provides strategic collaborations and fan growth incentives to now 40 esports clubs all over the world.

Beyond participating in EWC’s fabled Club Championship, the Club Partner Program helps these organizations with their infrastructure, development, and engagement. While winning the lion’s share of the Club Championship’s 30 million USD prize pool is a worthy goal, the program’s true focus is to bring support and stability to the esports ecosystem together with its partnered organizations.

They aim to achieve this through three pillars. The first is through an active partnership between the Esports Foundation and the clubs. There’s joint accountability for ecosystem development, which differs from the traditional models of pay-to-participate or passive revenue share.

The second pillar is how their storytelling goes beyond the EWC season. It keeps fans engaged long before and long after the EWC has passed.

And the last and most radical pillar is their open ecosystem for their partners. With only 40 available slots, every esports organization around the world has to compete with one another to enter the Club Partner Program. There will also be annual partner slot reallocations so clubs have to constantly prove that they’re pulling their weight.

“We’re very thankful that these esports powerhouses are partnering with us to make a future-facing ecosystem,” said Hans Jagnow, Director of Clubs, National Teams & Player Relations at the Esports Foundation. “We’ve been working with some of them for three years now and this project is very much influenced and built together with them. It’s one of the most ambitious partnership models in global sports and entertainment, and we’re just getting started.”
