Locar Gaming, Gabby Santos, and Sunsun: How Video Games Bring Their Family Together
Video games are a shared passion for content creators Carlo ‘Locar Gaming’ Santos, Gabby Santos, and their daughter Sunsun.
For content creator Carlo Santos — better known as Locar Gaming — and his wife Gabby, video games aren’t just a hobby. It’s a passion that they share as a couple along with their adorable little daughter Sunsun.
During a recent interview with The GAME, the couple opened up on their dynamic as a gaming family — one that’s complemented by their personal preference for video games. Carlo is the competitive gamer, while Gabby is more on the recreational side of things.
“The day is filled with lots of gaming, and may mga time na naglalaro kami together, may mga time na solo din ako naglalaro,” Carlo shared. “Si Gab, more on casual gamer talaga. Then ‘yan, like si Sunsun, inaaya niya rin ako mag-game and may time din na nag-sosolo siya.”
Added Gabby, “It’s really good actually, kasi ‘di talaga ako gamer. Then I met Carlo and ayun nga, parang doon ko nalaman na may ganito palang mga laro. Sobrang na-widen na ‘yung vision ko about sa gaming side.”
In other relationships, this could be a point of contention, as one’s partner could either be too invested in video games, or would prefer to bond over different activities. And while this isn’t the case for Carlo and Gabby, they still make sure to set boundaries in order to create a healthy work-life balance.

“Nagkaroon din kami ng transition from sa akin na hindi ako gamer. Tapos ‘yun na, nagkaroon kami ng araw-araw niyang kagustuhan, okay lang naman sakin ‘yun. I support him,” Gabby said.
“Pero ‘yun, syempre pag work, work, ganyan. Serious din, strict din. Then kay Sunsun, ganon din naman and like syempre, bata pa siya. So strict tayo sa screen time, pero pagka may times na feel na feel namin mag-game, syempre papayagan natin.”
And as mentioned, at the center of their relationship is Sunsun, who often accompanies Carlo during his streams. In fact, Sunsun’s affinity for gaming came naturally, even if they’ve offered her the chance to try activities like dancing, singing, or the arts.
Now four years old, Sunsun’s love for gaming makes it easy for the young family to bond — from playing action-oriented games like VALORANT, or family-friendly ones like Grounded.
“Sobrang happy kasi it’s something na kapag meron ka shared passion, hindi na mahirap kumonnect sa anak. May mga times kasi na ‘yung anak mo, let’s say, may gustong gawin. Pero sa amin, like gaming itself, connected na kami and doon na ‘yung bonding namin,” Carlo said.
“And talagang nafi-feel namin na parang best friend na namin siya the way na nagbobond kami over games.”
Though Carlo and Gabby still supervise her playing time, Sunsun herself has been disciplined in terms of her gaming choices. Oftentimes, it’s her who decides what recreational games she wants to play with her parents.
“For me, sobrang hanga lang ako kay Sunsun kasi nakikita ko talaga ‘yung smartness niya about sa mga bagay na kunware, ineexplain namin may monster dito and it’s just a game. May mga ganun kaming explanation and continuous explanation lang sa kanya and naiintindihan naman niya,” Gabby shared.
“And ‘yung smart about her lang kasi, nagegets din niya kagad. Pag nakita niya sa computer, ‘Ay mommy! Bad po ‘yan’, ganyan. Alam niya na kaagad kahit hindi namin sabihin, so she’s really smart about it naman and I think we trust her sa process na ‘yan.”
