These games are a must for PS5 gamers’ 2026 wishlists.

Twenty-twenty-six is shaping up to be another huge year for Playstation 5 (PS5) gamers, especially with a calendar filled with major releases, and a lean but mean pool of console exclusives

Here’s five releases that PS5 gamers wouldn’t want to miss for this year — both for major and console-exclusive releases.

Resident Evil Requiem

Release Date: February 27 (out now)

Early into its lifespan, Resident Evil Requiem has been getting rave reviews, being a perfect mix of the series’ iconic horror roots, and the action-oriented feel seen in later games. We wouldn’t be surprised if this is your entry to Capcom’s long-running series.

Just a small bit of advice — you might want to play Resident Evil 2 before plunging into Requiem. Trust us, you wouldn’t regret it if you do.

Crimson Desert

Release Date: March 19

Open-world games and fantasy settings have always been guaranteed hits, and Crimson Desert might be next up on that list. Set in the fictional world of Pywel, gameplay has looked promising so far, and can be considered as a mix of iconic franchises such as The Elder Scrolls, Legend of Zelda, and Elden Ring.

Phantom Blade Zero

Release Date: September 9

Last but not least is Phantom Blade Zero, a role-playing game (RPG) that leans heavily on Chinese folktales mixed with elements from steampunk and dark fantasy genres. Here, gamers take on the role of Soul, an elite assassin for “The Order” who becomes involved in a rather messy conspiracy.

Based on gameplay previews, Phantom Blade Zero’s combat system looks similar to Dark Souls and Elden Ring — being a more stylish version of the two’ games methodical playstyle.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Release Date: September 15

Expectations are high for Insomniac Games’ Wolverine, and for good reason. After all, it’s from the same developer behind the Marvel’s Spider-Man games, a series that showcased a mature Peter Parker, on top of giving us a highly-immersive gaming experience as Spidey.

Though this time around, we’re likely getting a darker game with Wolverine, which is more than understandable given Logan’s overall nature. That, plus the chance to play as another Marvel icon is enough reason to be excited for the September 15 release date.

Grand Theft Auto VI

Release Date: November 19

From Liberty City in GTA IV (2008) and Los Santos in GTA V (2013), we’re now getting a modern-day version of Vice City through GTA VI that’s expected to drop on November 19.

As seen with Red Dead Redemption II in 2019, Rockstar Games is more than capable of developing an immersive open-world game. This, along with an already-delayed release date, raises the standards greatly with GTA VI. Just imagine all the side activities we could do as Jason and Lucia in Vice City, right?
