Falling short of expectations is always tough, but there’s always something to learn in that process.

It was a rather rough MSC 2025 for ONIC PH’s coach Ynot were challenged in every direction, ultimately finishing the tournament in third place. While third place is still a podium finish, it’s below expectations for the reigning world champions.

Besides their third place finish, ONIC PH didn’t really look like their usual dominating selves in MSC 2025. This tournament seems to have highlighted flaws in their play and preparation – issues that definitely didn’t escape coach Anthony “YnoT” Senedrin’s attention.

“It’s something that we’ve talked about,” said ONIC PH’s coach YnoT after winning their third place match against ONIC ID. He mentions that everyone holds each other accountable for their wins and losses. It just so happens that they’ve had a lot to discuss throughout the tournament. “Ako, I start with the draft because every time I finish a draft I think if I could have made life easier para sa mga players ko. That’s a big factor. After that, once we establish that things could have been better, we move on to the gameplay.”

“It all boils down to preparation, to foresight, coming into MSC,” continued ONIC PH’s coach YnoT. “Medyo nag-lack kami doon. I think this gave us a very important lesson kasi medyo malaki yung pinagdaanan namin. So it’s up to us to move forward.”

Finding the Right Mindset

At the end of MPL PH S15, coach YnoT said that the most important thing the team needs is consistency. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to find that consistency in time for MSC and other teams capitalized on it.

Alam naman ng tao gaano kami ka-rocky,” the coach admitted. “Perhaps it’s something na talagang kailangan namin bigay pansin, tingnan ano pa kailangan namin i-improve. Nahabol kami ng mga ibang teams, nalagpasan kami, so kailangan namin matanggap yon.”

In the end, coach YnoT is keeping himself and his team to a higher standard and he knows there’s a lot of work to do. His biggest takeaway this MSC is that they can’t stop improving and shouldn’t take anything for granted, especially if they want to remain at the top.

“Every second, every moment, every day, every week, it counts. Not just sa side ko as a coach but even the players – as a team. Kailangan namin mag-work twice, thrice as hard kung gusto namin i-reclaim yung glory.
