Tifa’s cool and all, but it’s all about Filipino pride right now.
Street Fighter 6 is going in a whole new direction for their Year 4 Characters with newcomers Yasmine, Arjun, Bosch, and surprise guest Tifa. Having a crossover with Final Fantasy, one of the biggest IP’s in gaming is, of course, quite a feat. But for us over here, we can’t help but be immediately drawn to Capcom’s first ever Filipino fighter.
Yasmine is a young and energetic highschooler who’s dropping into the world of Street Fighter 6 in search of her missing Kuya. She’s described as having a shy and gentle demeanor but is brimming with confidence once she enters a fight.
Funnily enough, we already have two other Filipino representatives in fighting games. Both are female and both are timid outside of combat. The one thing Yasmine does have over the other two is that she looks like she’ll actually fight using Filipino martial arts. Wielding a karambit and trained by her Lolo, Yasmine can bring the speed and deadliness of Arnis and Eskrima to the Street Fighter 6 roster.

Besides being the first Filipino representation in a Capcom game, many fans have immediately taken a liking to her style. Her combat fit is very sporty with the shorts and jacket, accentuated by the blue and red colors of the Filipino flag. She even has the yellow Philippines sun on her shoulders to complement the look.
Imagery of the Philippine eagle is also present in her look and seen most prominently on her karambit. Not only does it tie her more to her Filipino roots, it also emphasizes what kind of fighter she is. She’s going to be very agile, fast, and hard to pin down once she arrives on August 3.
