Light is finally looking like he’s back in form on the MPL stage.
Things are looking bright for Aurora’s Light and crew as they’re cruising at the top of the league on a four-match win streak. Beyond that, Aurora Gaming has thoroughly established themselves as one of the top teams in MPL PH S16.
One of the key reasons why Aurora has climbed in the rankings is the efforts of Dylan “Light” Catipon. It took some time but the veteran Roamer has integrated himself extremely well with the team. He enables the rest of Aurora incredibly well, as evidenced by the fact that he’s the week three player of the week.
“Tinapangan ko na lang lahat, kahit yung decision making in-game,” said Auroras Light. He’s always been an expert in making plays and opportunities and that’s only possible if he’s confident enough to go for them. “Kumbaga masasabi ko na comfortable na ako sa MPL.”
Before the season started, the coaching staff admitted a number of difficulties in their preparations for season 16. Chief among them was having to restructure the team due to the departure of their previous Roamer, Renejay Barcase. Now it’s clear that this new team dynamic is working for Aurora but they can’t rest easy yet.
“Gumagana yung efforts pero syempre marami pa rin kailangan gawin,” said Aurora’s Light. “Meron pang ilang weeks tapos playoffs so kailangan pa namin i-improve and maintain yung gameplay namin.”
A Good Fit
Of course, it’s not just about being comfortable playing on stage. Light wouldn’t be playing as confidently as he is if he didn’t have a team to back him up. Aurora is synergizing well with his playmaking style and for him, it’s a breath of fresh air.
“In the past seasons, parang grabe yung struggle,” reflects Aurora’s Light. He’s mentioned previously how he had a difficult time playing for Bigetron Esports in MPL Indonesia. Some friction is always to be expected when playing for a new team but things just really didn’t work for Light in Bigetron.
Now that he’s with Aurora, Light is ready to stretch his playmaking muscles once again. He’s a previous MPL and MSC champion after all and he’s about to remind everybody about that fact.
“Ngayon na-bless ako ni Lord ng opportunity maglaro sa isang team na masho-show ko yung kaya kong ibigay. Tapos may trust sila sa akin. Sobrang refreshing. Gagawin ko ang lahat para hindi masayang ito.”
