The kings of MLBB prove their strength in a surprisingly stacked qualifiers gauntlet.

The SIBOL MLBB team has completed the first step to their quest for gold at the Asian Games 2026 with an impressive qualifiers run. Taking place over the weekend at Resorts World Sentosa Convention Center in Singapore, the national team finished at the top of their group, placing them at the head of the 12 teams heading to Nagoya, Japan, later this year.

Day one looked like business as usual for SIBOL MLBB as they swept Malaysia 2-0 for a strong start, which was followed by another clean sweep over Laos in the second day of action.

However, in one of the biggest upsets in the Asian Games 2026 qualifiers, the Philippines fell to Cambodia after a close 2-1 series. The Philippines were unable to find an answer to Cambodia’s teamfighting strategies and couldn’t hold their leads as a result. This victory would then fuel Cambodia for the rest of the event, where they would finish second in the group.

Shocking as it was for fans, SIBOL MLBB proved their veterancy by quickly bouncing back for their remaining matches. They would go on to win their four remaining matches, only dropping one game against Vietnam.

“Overall performance, maganda naman. Very tiring pero worth it naman,” said Head Coach Allec “SN4P” Alvarado to SIBOL media. “Grabe ‘yung changes sa meta. Kulang ‘yung resources pero we achieved Asian Games qualification pa rin. I’m proud of the boys. Thank you din sa buong coaching staff sa naging help niyo.”

What the qualifications have shown is that every team is stepping up as they’re all searching for that Asian Games 2026 gold. The Philippines however are still on track, and it’s up to them to stay ahead of the competition once they arrive on the main stage in Japan this October.
