They’re rough around the edges but they’re young, hungry, and have the capacity to go far.
It’s been a redemption season for Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN as his new and younger squad are about to take on the MPL PH’s best at the Cuneta Astrodome. They started off hot, then had a steep dive in the middle, but still pulled through in the end.
Coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza gives major props to his boys for all the growth they’ve done in the season. Not only are they the first developmental league team to prove they were ready for the MPL skillwise, they’ve also shown the ability to adapt to pressure that goes beyond the game as well.
“Para sa akin, nakikita ko talaga na sobrang malaki yung potential nila,” said Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN. “Kasi lahat sila quality gumalaw, quality pindutan, tapos nakikita mo talaga yung improvements nila.”
Things did look rather dire for them when Twisted Minds went on a four-match losing streak towards the end of the season. Coach BON CHAN however just kept reminding them of how strong they were at the start. And as painful as it may be, losing is a required step in order to improve.
“Ako, naka-experience na ako ng mas-malala na lose streak kaysa apat na kasunod,” said Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN. “So ang sinasabi ko sa kanila is yung nararanasan nila ngayon is part ng journey at kailangan para maka-recover sila.”
A Whole New Level
Now it’s a new test for the young and ambitious Twisted Minds. They’ve proven they can handle the MPL PH stage, but what about a stage inside an arena full of fans?
The season 16 playoffs being held in the Cuneta Astrodome could potentially have the biggest crowd in the league’s history. It’s a different kind of pressure from the regular season so the question is: will Twisted Minds be ready?
“Para sa akin, magiging prepared sila just in time,” said Twisted Minds’ coach BON CHAN confidently. “Kasi dito never pa nila na-experience yung MPL crowd pero maganda yung pinakita nila. Binabantay din namin yung mental health nila para nasa proper condition sila pagdating sa playoffs.”
