A series of great NBA jersey matchups that will surely add to the full NBA Playoff hype and experience.

When Nike became the NBA’s official outfitter in the 2017–18 season, it ushered in a new era of uniforms and delivered countless standout designs. The iconic Oregon-based brand introduced the City Edition jerseys, giving each team a chance to celebrate the culture, history, and identity of its home city through a fresh look that changes every season.

With that came even more possibilities for memorable jersey matchups. Fans now regularly get visually striking games that add to the overall viewing experience. With the NBA Playoffs about to begin, let’s explore some potential elite uniform matchups that viewers would love to see on the postseason stage.

This might be the best City Edition matchup of the first round. Toronto’s throwback-inspired logo is already iconic, and its modern twist on a black base blends seamlessly into a playoff setting. On the other side, Cleveland’s City Edition, led by orange tones, brings a good contrast that pops under the brightest lights. Two elite City uniforms on the same floor make for a visually stunning and high-energy playoff atmosphere, a perfect complement to elite basketball.

Minnesota’s Classic Edition carries a strong sense of history, one that recalls both the franchise’s early struggles and the Kevin Garnett era that shaped its identity. Now, with Anthony Edwards leading a new generation, the Wolves feel firmly on an upward path. Denver’s Association whites, meanwhile, represent stability and championship pedigree. This matchup also carries playoff history, including their dramatic Game 7 meeting. While the jerseys elevate the visuals, it’s the stakes and history between these teams that make this pairing compelling.

Knicks (City) vs Hawks (Statement)

A rematch of their 2021 playoff battle, this matchup carries both history and evolution. Back then, the series was already heated, producing memorable moments that still linger in both fanbases and both teams arrive in new eras. The jersey matchup adds another layer. The Knicks’ City Edition leans into a vintage aesthetic with its off-white base with the classic Knicks look of blue and orange accents, reinterpreting tradition through a modern lens, thanks to Kith’s influence.

The Hawks’ Statement Edition, meanwhile, has become a staple of their identity, featuring a sleek black base with vibrant secondary colors. Together, they create a sharp visual contrast that matches the energy of a revitalized Eastern Conference rivalry.

This series is already intriguing because of the regular-season meetings these teams have had. Though injuries may change the outlook, there is no denying that the Lakers and Rockets have delivered great matchups in the past. Their jersey battles have often been just as memorable, with the Lakers’ updated version of their iconic purple threads going against Houston’s City Edition jersey that pays homage to their legends.

Celtics (Association) vs Sixers (Classic)

While Philadelphia’s classic edition jersey has become one of the most talked about jerseys this season thanks to its nostalgic presence.
