Street Fighter’s first-ever Filipina character is bringing the speed and fury of Eskrima to the streets.

August 3 is still two months away but Capcom have decided to give us a sneak peek of Yasmine’s high-speed gameplay in Street Fighter 6. Street Fighter’s first ever Filipina character is coming in with a lot of hype and now that we see how she moves, it’s easy to see why.

In a recent blog post, Capcom described Yasmine as a rushdown fighter with a lot of follow-ups and setups to really put the pressure on your opponent. Daloy ng Tubig and its follow-up, Alon, is a multi-hitting knife attack and her primary combo tool. Alon also has different properties depending on the strength of the attack, giving her different options for her offense.

The most important combat feature of Yasmine is that certain special moves put her into Bayani Mode. That’s when her knife turns blue and buffs her specials to be even more devastating. Bayani Mode ends once she successfully hits an opponent with an empowered special. However, she does have ways to not spend the buff so she can use it at the right time.

Yasmine has some really impressive knifework in her gameplay.

Yasmine’s rushdown options get even crazier with Talim ng Hangin, a forward moving sweep with her karambit. She can even mix-up opponents with Mukha ng Langit by leaping into the air and forcing them to guess which side she’ll be attacking next. And she wouldn’t be a Street Fighter 6 character without a dragonpunch-esque move so she has Lipad ng Agila to keep her enemies off of her.

Last but not least is Pangil sa Likuran, an interesting projectile that boomerangs back to her. It’s too slow to be used as a zoning tool, but you can bet there’ll be some nasty set-ups with this thing once people figure out the rest of her kit.

Give it some time and players will do some amazing things with this move.

All in all, Yasmine’s shaping up to be a great addition to Street Fighter 6. She’s overflowing with personality and her Filipino martial arts heritage is clear to see. We can’t wait to see how she measures up once she arrives on August 3.
