Despite being a veteran, Light is getting challenged like never before in the M-Series.
Aurora Gaming’s Light is no stranger to the intensity of international competition but M7 is proving to be a different beast entirely.
This is the first time Dylan “Light” Catipon is stepping on the M-Series stage and even he admits it’s on a different level compared to the other international tournaments he’s participated in. He’s come to the realization that, when it comes to the world championship, you have to be prepared for anything.
“Mas mahirap [yung M7] kasi sa Swiss format, pwedeng mangyari yung worst-case scenario,” said Aurora Gaming’s Light. “Random siya so kailangan kahit sinong kalaban, prepared ka. Kasi kung meron kang gustong iwasan, ibig-sabihin nun ay hindi ka confident at hindi mo kaya makisabayan sa ibang teams. Kailangan ready ka talaga.”

Aurora Gaming PH has been known to struggle in the M-Series in the past. They finished 12th in M6 after failing to move on from the Swiss Stage, citing similar difficulties. Right now Aurora’s in a better position compared to last year but it seems that those old problems are still there. But Light remains confident that he and the team has what it takes to make the playoffs.
“I would say yes,” said Aurora Gaming’s Light when asked if he thinks the team is stronger now compared to the end of MPL PH S16. “Kasi yung ini-improve namin is yung pinag-kukulang namin noong MPL season. Naga-advance naman kami so stronger pa rin yung team.”
And the things they need to improve are relatively simple, according to Light. They just need to get it done while in the middle of the biggest MLBB tournament of the year.
“We just have to fix yung common mistakes namin, yung maliliit na bagay. Kasi yun yung nagiging edge mo sa mga top teams. Kailangan lang namin mag-persevere at ayusin yun in a short time kasi nasa M7 na kami. We don’t have much time.”
