Marvel Tokon Blocks 100+ Countries Before the Game’s Release

By Ramon Domingo - July 13, 2026

Looks like an old controversy is hamstringing Marvel Tokon weeks before its launch.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is 2026’s most anticipated fighting game but for many countries, they might unfortunately have to sit this one out. Despite being available on both the PlayStation and PC via Steam, it’s not purchasable for a number of counties. It’s a problem that stems from the game being a PlayStation exclusive and one that’s already happened before.

About a few months ago, Sony announced that they’re pulling back from releasing their exclusive PlayStation games on PC. Previously released games will remain available but their new blockbusters like Ghost of Yotei and Saros remain locked behind the PlayStation console. Normally this shouldn’t affect multiplayer games like Marvel Tokon but somehow they’re getting caught in the crossfire.

It’s a shame that such a visual and mechanically stunning game might not be available for everyone.

You see, PlayStation is the publisher and distributor of Marvel Tokon. That means that the game uses the PlayStation Network (PSN) for online verification and functionality. The unfortunate thing here is that not every country has a PSN service – at least 132 of them in fact. This meant that countries such as the Philippines and Pakistan (ironic, considering Ms. Marvel is Pakistani-American) are unable to play or even purchase the game even if they got it on PC.

The baffling part about this is that a similar controversy already happened back in 2024 with Helldivers II. Long-story-short, one of Sony’s most popular games was suddenly removed from 177 countries because they couldn’t make a PSN account. They eventually walked that back but it seems no lessons were learned from that event.

In any case, Sony seems to be slowly responding to the Marvel Tokon situation. From 132 countries, the list was reduced to 117. The Philippines and Pakistan are in the clear but that still leaves far too many countries unable to play the most exciting fighting game of the year. Hopefully this issue is sorted out before the game releases on August 6.
